Referral Loop

Create a referral

Creating a referral is part of Refer. On the Free plan, New Referral in the New menu looks greyed out. Choosing it opens a prompt with Start Free Trial if you haven't had a trial, or Add a Card if your trial has ended. Everything you already made stays yours to edit. On the phone the prompt says plans are managed on the website.

  1. Choose New, then New Referral.
  2. Client: pick the client, or choose New Client to add them right here (a name is enough), or skip and add them later. Choose the Representation Side: Buyer, Seller, Landlord or Tenant. Then tell us where: the Property (for a seller or landlord) and/or the Target Area (where a buyer or tenant is looking). Pick each from the search suggestions.
  3. Choose Next: Receiving agents and pick who you're referring them to. Agents who are accepting referrals and cover that area are listed first. Pick more than one and you'll get one referral for each. An agent who isn't on your list yet? Choose New Agent and add their name and email; the rest can wait.
  4. Choose Next: Terms. Pick the Compensation Type: a percent of the agent's commission, or a flat referral fee. Each agent's Agreed Referral Fee is filled in for you when they have one; to use one figure for everyone, choose Override. If an agent has no agreed fee, the field starts empty and you can type one, or leave it blank and fill the fee in later.
  5. Set an Agreement Term End Date. We recommend it: it's how you'll know whether a client who comes back later still owes you a referral fee.
  6. Choose Create Referral.

What's next

When the referral has a receiving agent, the referral opens with Send this to them now?. Choose Draft the Agreement and Send It and they get one email: sign here, and here is your referral. Choose Share It to share the referral first and send the agreement later. Or choose Not Now: both stay on the referral for later.

Your client's name, phone and email stay hidden from the other agent until the agreement is signed. Change who sees them any time on the referral's Overview, in Parties.
